A Vessel of Exception
After its official launch in 1974 in Wormerveer, the sailboat was handed over to its owner, the boss of Moulinex after which the schooner spent a few years in the Mediterranean.
In 1985, Christina Onassis bought MARLINE, which continued to sail in the Mediterranean and subsequently was based in the Seychelles.
When Christina Onassis died in 1988, the sailboat was laid up for 4 years.
In 2015, the sailboat was bought by a consortium of 12 Mauritian owners who spent six months on a refit, before making three fishing trips to Saint-Brandon and returning to spent four months in the Seychelles.
In 2018, Alain Langlois, Gérald Lincoln and Vincent Lagarde became sole owners. In order to make the beautiful appearance that was his, the boat was further upgraded in 2018.
In 2021, MARLINE is sold to Patrick Licari with plans to spend time sailing around Madagascar. For a number of reasons these plans did not materialize and she was the purchased by current owners.
Design
Marline was designed by Dutch designer Wim de Vries and was a significant statement in superyachts of the period with her lines standing the test of time leaving her as an absolute period Classic.
Construction was by Cammengas Jacht en Scheepswerf BV, Wormerveer, Holland, where she was built to a standard and using materials no longer viable in the modern world.
In these terms, she is a true classic.
Marline is a Motor-Sailer in every sense, she is rigged and capable of sailing very efficiently in the true sense of the word and at the same time, with her 2 x 350hp
Caterpillars and large fuel capacity, motoring very effectively for upwards on 2,500nm depending on your sense of urgency.
